Hi All, I hope you are all doing well. Don't worry about stocks, worry about your loved ones instead... As you probably know I am on a prolonged 'leave', kinda vacations. It's really good not to go to work anymore. I must admit I love it. So finally SanDisk survived the big drop. Humm, pardon me, it still lost xx% of its value. Incidentally I also had a look at the report and I have to agree with Rex, most of it is still accurate. We even indicated the risks which materialized. Though, we did not see Hitachi coming the way it did. Nor did we assess adequately the competition from the Vikings' and Lexars'. I know I already mentioned this so I'll stop it here. Now that we know this, what about the future. Rex said we've got a safer base to go from here. Well, again, given the assets (UMC), cash, deferred revenues, patents and MMC, we're not far from fair book value. Though I wouldn't play down the risk of further competition and falling ASPs, even in the MMC area. BTW, no announcements for MONTHS in this area(almost a YEAR NOW!). I'm not even talking about the issue of the Lexar case. Fundamentally, I see a lot less announcements (design ins) then last year. On the surface, business seems calm. Inside I don't know. Digital cameras should be one of the hottest selling digital gifts of the end of year. Not many applications have been announced. HPCs are in a dormant phase. People around me buy more Palmpilots than Psions and HPs. But then I'm not totally negative. Hopefully the Christmas season will be good and SanDisk will surprise by posting nice 3rdQ earnings. FYI, I'm still out of SNDK but keep monitoring it.
