Pfizer's Viagra Impotency Drug Goes on Sale in Peru, Paper Says

September 7, 1998, 11:18 a.m. ET

Lima, Sept. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Pfizer Inc.'s impotency drug
Viagra will be sold in Peru today after it was registered by
local health authorities, El Comercio said. Authorities are
allowing distribution and sale of Sildenafil, the chemical name
of the U.S.-manufactured drug, after tests on 25 Peruvians.
Viagra will only be sold to individuals with a prescription,
preferably from a urologist, it added.

New York-based Pfizer already sells Viagra in some South
American countries, including Brazil and Argentina.
