The Learning Company Acquires American Greetings CreataCard Software Products. Over 5 Million Units of CreataCard Software Products Sold CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Learning Company, Inc. (NYSE:TLC) today announced that it has acquired the rights to the American Greetings CreataCard Gold and CreataCard Plus software products from Micrografx, Inc. for a purchase price of $7 million in cash. The American Greetings CreataCard line of software products has sold over $13 million of U.S. retail sell-through sales in the last twelve months, according to PC Data. In September 1998, The Learning Company expects to launch new releases of these products under American Greetings CreataCard Gold Version 3.0 and American Greetings Plus Version 3.0. In addition, according to PC Data, the American Greetings CreataCard Gold is the number one greeting card product and both of these titles are listed in the top twenty best selling productivity software titles in U.S. retail.
