*OT* <<I want to hear their opinions>> Diana: I disagree with your desire to banish Slider from SI, and I have e-mailed Jill this morning protesting their decision to do so. The freedom of speech on the internet should be zealously guarded by all of us! Slider sometimes gets emotional and caught up in his own rhetoric because he really feels strongly about his position(s). Censorship must be a very last resort and only used in EXTREME instances of abuse. The "less than polite" statements made on occasion by Slider is certainly not extreme by any reasonable threshold standard of what could be considered abusive. I'm sorry that some people are thin-skinned and look to punish someone for not meeting their standard of politeness. I click past people I consider offensive, or not worth my time reading. Don't you think that's a better idea than "off with his head"? You asked for opinions, and that's mine. I hope others support my point of view, but if not, I respect their right to disagree, even if their language gets a little "flowery". Bernie (long)
