Tero I have said this before and I will say it again. Europe is historically projectionist, merchantilistic, and narrow minded when it comes to trade. The USA has historically preached Laizais-faire, open door policies around the world. This is why the world sinks while the USA steams along. The United States has always used its political might to open up markets. ETSI is doing what the Europeans are used to. They are cowering in fear of the US dominance of another industry. Their response is to try to defend the one area of technology they have some advantage in. The United States government, though often incompetent, has historically taken a hard line against people who would close their markets to the USA. In the 1800's it was China, in the 1970-80's it was Japan. This historical conflict wont go away because of your wishing it will The Europeans are in a tenuous position, as are the Japanese. There is a new threat in Eastern Europe as well as possible problems with the Soviet Union. There have never been more possible trouble spots for regional conflict, and anarchy. Who do you think that France, japan,Germany, Sweeden, etcetcetc are going to look for to deal with these problems. That's right the good old USA, with its good old boy Soutern republicans, Texans, Lecherous presidents and all. Do you think that the Europeans would risk a trade war in this type of world environment? They are going to make a compromise. It might not be great For Qcom, but it will maintain Qcom's rights under international law. There will never be a situation in which Qcom is shut out of Europe, or in which WCDMA is taken without Q approval. It's just not going to happen. The US government will not allow it. TERO your arguments are shallow, and are tired. The day of reckoning is coming so you better get ready to deal with it
