The key is selling 3dfx cards to the "un-converted". The Quake/Unreal players have had their V2's for 6 months now. 3dfx needs to go after EVERY segment of the gaming market. The Real-Time strategy/Real-time (pseudo) RPG's have traditionally been 2D games. By appealing to the Diablo crowd (and hopefully other 2D + 3d enhancement titles), we are EXPANDING our user base. Games like EverQuest, Ultima Ascension, and other RPG's will further expand our player base. Heck, I'll even applaud DeerHunter 3D if that's what it takes. 300,000 new users here, 100,000 new users there... 1,000,000 (DeerHunter crowd, you only think I'm joking...). They're all sales, and will help the bottom line, and the companies influence.

Our cards sell themselves, and the more exposure we get from support by different titles (especially exclusive support), the more user-recommended sales, and magazine coverage we'll receive.

How about it 3dfx, sign up "Myst III: More pretty pictures", 3dfx enhanced : )

Re: Diablo

Anything that expands the number of 3D accelerated games is A GOOD THING(tm) for TDFX. This tweak to Diablo may or may not increase V2 sales in the near term but (more importantly) it has upped "the bar" for all future RPGs (Age of Empires, C&C, Star Craft, Diablo 2000, etc.). In the long run, this is very good news. Anything that expands the usefulness of these cards beyond the FPS-type games is definitely AGTt.

Chip

P.S. RPG = role playing game, FPS = first person shooter, AGTt = a GOOD THING(tm)
