Adaptec Again Must Prove Its Adaptability
Investors Business Daily 9/9/98 Pg A9

Date: 9/9/98

excerpts

The company is betting that Microsoft's Windows NT 5.0 operating system, which is geared to servers and networks, will spark a big rise in server sales. Analysts say NT 5.0 could be a big seller.

Boucher says he plans to stay at the helm for nine months. In that time, he aims to find a new CEO with experience in the chip industry, return the company to profitability and boost revenue.

''UDMA hurt us on the desktop,'' Boucher said, ''but the majority of our business is in the server business.''

Sales of NT servers are expected to grow by 30% this year, compared with 11% for PCs, Williamson says.

You win NOTHING and will like it. Wrong on all 4 counts. Ends at 11 ouch. How low can this go? There's $7 in cash per share right? Is the company only worth $4 per share? This is getting nuts.
