Lehman Brothers analyst Brian Skiba really seems to have his finger on the pulse of PeopleSoft. Here is his report from last week, written the day before the conference call.

lehman.com

I was impressed by his ability to predict the things that management was going to say in the call. Specifically, he predicts (and PSFT did say):

>>> emphasis on success in vertical markets (Management spent several minutes describing their IBU structure and its success)

>>> two-horse race with SAP in the high-end market; Oracle and Baan falling behind; JD Edwards seen only in mid-sized accounts

>>> PSFT still holds pricing power; no discounting required to maintain or expand win rate

>>> ERP industry is recession-resistant, as shown by performance in early 90's

Skiba's post-call report should be available in another day or two. It should be an interesting read as well.
