Just slow. Last summer, I bought a 56k modem, I changed ISPs and wanted a 2nd line for FAX and voice. Figured that the dial-up ISP would be less $. I do plan to move on it this fall. Now I can confirm to all those out there in Web-land that the 56k dial-up is one of the greatest wooden nickels that the internet revolution has ever seen. It barely delivers 30kBaud in a typical independent ISP situation! I think that people are now about to get fleeced again by the twisted-pair (also twisted-tongue?) camp with xDSL.
