I think that people are now about to get fleeced again by the twisted-pair (also twisted-tongue?) camp with xDSL.

It is for sure a more difficult technology to deliver with the inherent problems (noise) of that old copper. I've ordered DSL but was delayed installation due to the US West strike. Hope to have my line installed early October. I would love to have the cable option but when I asked TCI about it they told me they couldn't discuss it because of "competitive considerations". I haven't been able to figure who their competition is in my area and asked them who that may be but they never responded. Why is it that my local RBOC made no secret about their plans on delivering DSL but TCI gives me some lame ass excuse?

George,

San Diego is lucky enough to have both ATHM and Road Runner. If you are on the north side you get Road Runner through Southwestern Cable. The South Side gets ATHM from Cox.

Break open that piggy bank and get the cable modem. You'll never regret it.

Regards,
Stuart
