Re: Mel Famey, A few years ago I was at the ball park with a buddy when, during one of the many lulls in a baseball game, he commented that the pitchers out in the bull pen must get really bored sitting out there all afternoon. To this I replied that they coped by hoisting a few beers. When my friend took this as at least somewhat credible, I smoothly launched into my version of the Mel Famey story which can take up to 10 minutes. He swallowed it hook, line & sinker right up to the punch line. This was the most fun I ever had at the ball park and a singular joy for an inveterate story teller. How often do you get an opportunity like that? BTW, I first heard that joke as a college freshman in 1965 and, originally coming from the Milwaukee area, have always loved telling it. Thomas
