Pete was asked this more than once in Florida. He would, of course, be happy to do this and has thought it through very well. His response was that a company can only drive this branding through the market if they are a near monopoly. Otherwise, the customers won't support it. In this case, Checkfree could not afford to pay the FI's enough to get them to go along with this. He knows that Checkfree's best strategy is excellent service to the FI's and other customers, making money for them and staying out of the spotlight with their customers.

If you're suggesting that Nationsbank use that tag-line then great. They won't, however, because that isn't the message they want out. They want consumers to believe that Nationsbank is providing the internals, and Checkfree is smart enough to know that FI's need it to be that way.

On the other hand, if Checkfree used it, how do you think Chase would react?

We covered this back in the Jurassic period (i.e. post#153). It was a non-starter then, and remains so today.
