They stated that there total budget for the hifd will be 10mil for all of 99!!!! thats not a lot of money....thats if they make it out this year. I agree it will hurt iom, but from what i hear from distributors and my hw contacts at ibm, dell, and compaq they really will not be much for a threat this christmas......next year we will have to worry.......

J.D. IOM will fight fire with fire. IMO the mission is clear,
drive the price of Zip down to a point that other comers
won't dare to challenge. We've hashed this Sony thing
over time and again and I think IOM is ready, let Sony come,
we will see just how dismally the marketplace will accept it.
I actually believe that in this case the threat of creditable
competition has heightened the mission and resulted in a
narrower focus with a leaner meaner IOM.
