Doug, The Fed will probably have its hand forced on rates because of the debacle in Latin America. The problems are getting closer to home and there are serious risks here in North America. I think the Fed will lower rates tomorrow or early next week.

There are concerns about currencies in Latin America. I don't think Greenspan wants to be known as the guy who was Fed chairman during the two worst routs in post-war stock market history. In '87 he lowered rates after the crash, this time he might move quickly before it happens again.

Just a hunch.
