Office Furnishings - yes there is something there, Ive thought about it. NOT office furniture, too low volume and too granular, meaning everybody wants something unique.

What we are looking for is a CPG type business (consumer packaged goods), in some ways Dell is the CPG of computers.

Everybody can benefit from JIT/SCM but you really have to have low margins to squeeze your competitors and put them out of business because of it. I know you know this but just for the benefit of others.

Nobody like groceries, sheesh, well that was my personal wish list, guess Ill have to keep going to Draegers....

chuz -
I think Michelle was trying to break the thinking pattern with that groceries suggestion (and succeeded very well). Groceries have many of the attributes of the right product, but some obvious disadvantages. Some of the other suggestions I have heard have even more serious disadvantages, but the problems are harder to see. Starting from the things Dell does well at a business model level rather than a product perspective is probably how to get to the answer. It would be fun get it right.
