I am sorry David, and although you are probably correct, statements
like that really are starting to bug me... CIENA's problems are
100% due to CIENA's management. This is the kind of thing that can
happen when you position yourself with too narrow of a product line
and too FEW customers. They have absolutely no advantage to allow
them to protect their margins/share. I would never question their
technology, but I do know they have viable competition.

David, what this amounts to is a hostile takeover. History shows that this is the most efficient kind of merger because it eliminates sweetheart deals with management. Integration generally is much easier after hostile takeovers. There is only one company I know of that has consistently done well with friendly takeovers: TYC.
