Gary,

Some musings,

In retrospect, I think that the Intel longs will see that the timing of the Intel preannouncement was fortunate in that it occurred the afternoon after the market had a day to react to the delivery of the the Starr report to the House. The fact that the President of the United States might actually be impeached became real and the market took this uncertainty as it has all the other uncertainty that it has faced in the last few weeks - it sold off big time and went oversold once again.

So, along comes the first piece of really good news from one of the world's major corporations and what will be the short term effect?

Prediction - Money flow into INTC will be at record levels because of money looking for a home in the market with an investment that might be showing good growth in spite of all the negativity. If Intel looks like it will continue to show growth in the coming quarters, as it is becoming clearer that it will, momentum will shift to INTC, which at closing is 23% off it's alltime high. With many media types and interviewes proclaiming that earnings from many companies going forward will be flat at best, hearing this good news from Intel will cause many to reassess their negativity and buy the stock. The traders will join in too as momentum shifts to INTC. Then there is the money that will leave the bond market seeking a better return than the current yield.

Prediction - we will be in the 90's again soon if not tomorrow. New highs in October.

JMHO.

Barry

Isn't a positive preannouncement a major change in trend. Intel should be good to over 95 as long as the whole market doesn't implode.
