G.T.
I know something about the family farm, though I never lived on one.
Growing up in Dumas Texas allowed me to see and understand how integral the family ag producer is to the small town and the small town is to greater North America.
I think if we do not do something very soon to prop up and rebuild this backbone of our land, we are doomed. This is a very big part of why I believe in gold and mining. This could well be the (much needed) factor to draw people from the overcrowded cities and back to a better life, reduced pollution, and overall better morals.
Just as most investors, I am unable to divorce my feelings of right and wrong from my stock holdings. How I differ form the greater masses is I understand what is right and wrong in my own mind, and do not need a politician or some group to tell me what to believe.
You see, I agree the environment is very important, I just refuse to
to the current drivel that all large manufacturing and mining concerns are bad, and all small ones are good and large ones must be concentrated in the largest cities where they can be controlled.
I assert the carrying capacity of the land is greater than is understood if these functions are spread over a greater area. I ,moreover, assert, that while many infrastructure type resources (sewer, police, water, schools)are overtaxed in the largest cities they are under-utilized in small town America. It is this over-taxing of
infrastructure that causes the worst of today's pollution problems!

G.T & All,
btw, off-topic.
I understand there is an open seat on the Federal Reserve Board.
I also have heard that there is growing sentiment in the investment community to appoint to this seat a non-economist / non-banker.
They really wish to put a "common person" in this seat.
I want the job.
After all, Greenspan got there because he correctly called a gold/
inflation move.
If anyone wishes to help or support me in this effort, please E'mail me. I know, this seems like a pipe dream, but, I could be bery good at the job. No, don't any your money! just a little time to write a letter. Who better than a person who questions the need for & constitutionality of a Federal Reserve and Central Bank.
I could at least tell the truth.
