I thought this was the best description of the mini drive I've read yet. I also states that they will use GMR. I had thought the flying height of GMR would have made any drive more sensitive to shock, but I'm obviously wrong.

Funny thing is they seem to conclude there isn't really demand for these drives, in cameras at least, as they are too expensive. I should think palm computers would be very hungry for a drive like this.

To any Professional Disc Drive Engineers or Repair personell who monitor this thread:

Could you please explain what likely happens to the condition of a disc drive when the floating read/write head comes into contact with a 3000rpm spinning disc?
