I agree that you cannot push a stock down in the face of demand, but their is no real demand for any long stock in the entire stock market.

My only point is that the institutions don't have any particular secret info. They have a lot of money and experience, but are subject to the same emotions and liquidity problems that individual have. Also, not all institutions are dumping. I think the stock is passing from weak hands to strong.

I believe that no professional is left shorting the stock, since it is perfectly feasible for CSCO to make a bid for the stock, and no one would want to be short in that situation. And further downside is limited, and there is more to be made on other stocks.

I have to admit, it is weird to see such a discount to TLABs offer, and I believe TLAB made the vote for November for three reasons.

1) Any more problems will come out in that time.
2) If no more problems, CIEN should rise to a level that TLAB
shareholders will agree to the buy.
3) Doing so decouples TLAB stock from CIEN for the time being.

The risk for TLAB is that someone else makes a bid. In any case, the extreme short term we might see no movement since we still have some additional margin liquidation going on. And most sane people are terrified by this stock on either side of long/short.
