To All: SUN misleading, overvalued, worth only $5.

A must read.

Dump SUN and invest in MSFT.

I totally agree with your comment. I am a JAVA programmer. I got a call yesterday from one of the SUN guys asking me if I had any UNIX experience since I had been working mainly with NT. I told him that since SUN portrays JAVA to be platform independent what difference would that make? He thought I was being defensive. I had to tell him that his question was rhetorical. SUN obviously employs a bunch of dumb F****. I was not happy after speaking to the guy and made me rethink that my impression of SUN as being one of the good guys is wrong. The stock chart for SUNW itself portrays that anyway.

At the end MSFT rules.

brian,

It never ceases to amaze me that, in this era of digital
communications and instantaneous information dissemination,
that there are still those who base their investment decisions
on ignorance.

Brian, your statement is old news, and shows that you do not
take investing seriously. You need to read the press releases
from SUNW & MSFT on a regular basis to form your opinions.
You're not alone. A NUMBER of MSFT advocates share your
viewpoint, which is not in line with what EITHER company
has said in the last 6-12 months.

I suggest you do a thorough review of both companies before
coming back to this thread with your views.

cheers,

cherylw

Sun need to be realistic about their business expectation. They thought they can
move Windows away from every computer; they had "no NT" policy, they saw java
as a universal language...all of this is nothing but wild dreams. We all know by
now that Sun have to put their server work with NT, that java is not as great as
they has claimed to be, that the sale of NT has increased much faster than Sun
server did... Sun should realize that they don't have dominant position like MSFT
has and they never will.

I don't remember Scott McNealy every portrayed SUN as having an
"no NT" policy. Sun's official position has always been that
they want to be an viable alternative to WinTel based systems.
The key that SUN has always maintained is interoperativability.
Solaris now works with NT clients. Now companies with a large
investment with NT workstations can tap off the scalability
and stability of SUN servers and storage systems. They no-longer
have to live and die by Microsoft. That is a good thing.
