According to CIEN IR, they will report earnings prior to or on the 15th (they have to in order to comply w SEC guidelines). I'm sure they will be prepared to state whether the TLAB deal is intact or not at that time.

It would be a sad testimonial if TLAB scuttled the deal as a result of succumbing to pressure from short sellers and day traders hammering CIEN's share price. Unless TLAB has had a major change of heart regarding the long-term implications of CIEN technology/products I don't see them walking.

Note sentence which states that the integration of DWDM with ATM (i.e. Ascend GBX550) allows network service provides to avoid buying costly legacy SONET gear (i.e. LU and TLAB).
Who needs who more? CIEN or TLAB?
