Oddly, the Dow closed up 180. Maybe this is not so odd. Here is a scenario that could unfold. Just musings. I hope that's allowed, Zoltan!...

Clinton has made it clear that he is going to fight, not resign.

Republican leadership certainly understands clearly that it has a lot to gain in the runup to the November elections and in the period after them by having in power a man who has defiled the office but not, they could say, committed offences that rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors (and this is the opinion of the eminent lawyer who defined impeachable offenses for the house committee during Watergate.)

The far right within the Republican party would have to be handled by the pragmatic center.

Business interests would be delighted with this outcome because opposition to pro business initiatives emanating from the Republican party, with its enhanced majorities (assuming the Democrats stay home in November) would face no effective opposition. The protectionist and pro labor sentiments of the Democratic liberal-left would be neutered.

Now moving playfully along, here's how Clinton might rehabilitate himself once a civilian (as long as I'm musing!)

Hillary divorces him after a seemly interval, and Bill pulls a Woody Allen! He dates Monica! He doesn't even have to marry her, he just has to been seen with her long enough to show the world that it was true love!

Your thoughts, please.LOL!
