Gee, if your friend is raped and murdered, is it OK that the crimes are related to sex?

Sorry for some, but Sick's crimes are impeachable offenses.

Every one of those points is related to a sex scandal in some way.

I can tell you that a large proportion of the criminal work I do is related to sex in some way. Sex is a primary human emotion. Inability to handle emotions in a legal way often constitutes criminal activity. Deny every prosecutor in the country from prosecuting any sex-related crimes and you put half of law enforcement out of business. (The rest is drugs!)

This has already been said, but it bears repeating - if Monica had been murdered to keep her from testifying about the affair, would that have been okay? After all, it's related to the sex scandal.

The crimes that Clinton is accused of are separate from his affair with Monica. It doesn't matter what led up to the crime, only that a crime was committed (I'm still waiting to see how this part falls out).

Liberals, conservatives and everyone in between, know Mr. Clinton lied under oath, this, regardless of any definition of "Sexual relations", legal or otherwise. We know when he said the Lewinsky affidavit was "absolutely correct", he was lying under oath and knew that he was lying. Moreover, we all think it beyond incredulity, Mr. Clinton's contention that he was utterly passive, a veritable mannequin during his many trysts with Miss Lewinsky. Lastly, we believe Miss Lewinsky's account of the matter is credible, given while in a state of vulnerability, and that Mr. Clinton's account is questionable, wholly dependent upon non answers, convenient forgetfulness, semantics and the dubious wrenching of language.

Given this, here are my predictions for the coming months:

1. Mr. Clinton, will NOT be impeached. Impeachment ultimately depends upon the will of Congress and Congress is loathe to proceed with impeachment on the basis of the information in the Starr report. Firstly, the report, for the most part, simply rehashes facts the Clinton camp has already artfully spun into worthlessness. Everyone knows Mr. Clinton lied to the country. Clinton has said as much (while not saying it). Everyone knows he lied under oath. The facts, unlike in other presidential scandals (save Watergate), are flatly before us, and the Clinton camp has masterfully convinced the majority of Americans that this is understandable and, while not preferable, acceptable given the economy, and all the "good things" this "caring" and very cuddly President has done. Also, despite the fact that the main issue of the investigation concerns lying and obstruction of justice (related to a lawsuit concerning sexual matters), the Clinton camp has successfully convinced the majority of Americans that the issue purely concerns sex. Secondly, there are substantial numbers of Democrats still left in Congress and they, short of discovering Mr. Clinton to be a mass murderer, will never agree to impeachment without declaring a Holy War.

2. Faced with a president who by any rational standard has been confirmed to have lied under oath, Congress will fail to uphold the law, but will not be able to stomach the appearance of doing nothing. So Congress will overtly and boisterously do nothing. They will censure the President.

3. Clinton's current (and profoundly cynical) "strategy of contrition" will work wonderfully. In fact, Clinton will milk the strategy nearly as if he were campaigning. Hillary will increasingly add her voice of forgiveness to the mix, quickly recapturing the many non-thinking Americans who believe "if Hillary can forgive him, so should we" (they fail to understand that, as long as he stays in office, Hillary probably would forgive him even were he a confirmed rapist).

4. As a result of the current Clinton strategy, Democrats will lose far fewer seats in Congress than many now claim they will lose in the November elections.

5. One year from now, despite that the economy will have long been in severe downturn (indeed, within six months it will be the economy, rather than this scandal, that will begin to more forcefully lobby for the minds of the people), Clinton will have nearly recovered from his current circumstances. Commentators will marvel at how this President has been able to overcome his problems, and survive even within a severely depressed economy.
