You have to consider that many of the companies you mentioned that are trading at or below cash value are also losing major amounts of money. Whereas, Adaptec is still making money for the year and has a positive cash flow. Unless management of this company is brain dead ....there is no reason why this is not one of the best values in the market today. I have purchased many shares and plan to purchase more after I hear the forthcoming conference call. Good luck all ADAPTEC shareholders...

Your answer only makes my head hurt worse. If you feel that book value is not a fair representation then you also need to take in to account terms of LTD and how cash or cash equivalents are being used. By all means feel free to discount any assets other than cash. If I used that method I would be inspired to short every publicly traded company in the world.
