Bill, that's almost exactly where I'm at.

Even if you concede Kendall's arguments re: intent, they fail when you examine the grand jury testimony. The President had mens rea when he walked into the Map Room. He knew the stakes and he lied anyway.

Should the President resign?

Should the President be impeached?

I see those as two very different questions - the former being primarily political (after the humiliation and shame he has brought upon the Presidency and the damage he has done to his own "political viability" when it comes to operating effectively going forward) and the latter primarily legal (a reasoned debate about the process of impeachment itself in light of the Constitution).

Speaking of shame and humiliation...

...I must now turn my attention to the Birds <g>

Bill, you admit that the crimes are petty.Do you believe that when our founding fathers said "high crimes and misdemeanors" they meant "petty" as well?
