Spots,

We discussed this before. A good lightning strike could not only render the whole disk useless but the whole box useless. I have seen every drive in a server be fried by one surge, more than once. What about fire, what about theft, what about user error, what about a virus. The scenarios that could render this backup strategy useless are too numerous. Only positives are quick and convient. Sounds like inviting disaster into your house. Removable media doesn't have any of these issues. You can't beat the combo of removable media with a rotation plan, in house fire safe, and bank safety deposit box for the money. If your not doing this your fooling yourself into having a false sense of security.
