Paul, Re: "Merrill and Kurlak seems to judge much of the semiconductor business by the
DRAM business - and if so, they may be looking at the "wrong indicators" (as
Elaine Garzarelli used to say)."

You're right. To try to be fair to them, they may be taken out of context, or maybe not all of their message comes across on CNBC or wherever, but quite often the only semi segment talked about as being in trouble is DRAM, yet Intel goes with the downdraft, out with the bathwater. This in spite of the fact, as we know, that lower priced DRAM is good for Intel, saving them money, as they are a very big user of DRAM for motherboards, server nodes, etc.

This morning, Maria Bartiromo on CNBC said ML was downgrading lumber companies now. Good. Nothing against the lumber folks, but maybe Kurlak et al understand wood chips better than semiconductor chips. Before anyone else has the chance, I'll say they should go on to cow chips next.
