Possible O'Hare/IDX connection . . . from September 13 Press-Enterprise (Riverside, California):

"United Airlines, which dropped plans for a VIP lounge at Ontario [California] because of cost considerations, is using high-tech gate readers at its three Ontario gates to streamline boarding and simplify record-keeping.

"The gate readers are a 'real coup' for Ontario because the
equipment is brand-new, said Mary Jo Holland, United spokeswoman.

"'This technology just started rolling out two to three months ago.'

"Until recently, the gate readers were part of a test at O'Hare
International Airport in Chicago, United's main hub."

The article was marvelously silent on what the passenger "gate readers" actually read. The timing may be right for us, though . . . so we'll have to wait and see on this long shot.
