Gary- You wrote: "Are you always such a jerk?" Gary, there is no need for personal insults. I have not call you names. For some reason, you tend to do this when challenged. I have only (ever) challenged your willingness to post some of your sources, which you seem unwilling to do, or called your arguments (not you) weak ...(even though you have claimed they are superior). I have also asked for you to elaborate on your arguments. Again, you seem unwilling to do so. < Listen the market growth rates by any account I've seen is in the teens> The market (in many segments) has been growing in the mid-teens for quite a while......Dell has been growing units sales at 50%+ for quite a while...Looks like its possible for Dell to grow at 50%+ while the overall market grows at 15+% (see below) < yet you post information from a few fringe countries which represent <5% of the overall PC market and are markets which DELL doensn't even have a presence in> This response is simply not accurate. My post addressed Europe, the Americas, Japan and China. You are callling these "fringe countries?" Or are you calling Japan and China "fringe countries"... Dell doesn't have a presence in Japan? Or China (I guess that factory that starting pumping out product a few weeks ago is an illusion)....Gary, it's this kind of fact-twisting that makes for poor discussion...Please dont warp my arguments; I dont warp yours...I just ask you to back yours up. "and you want ME to post substantiating evidence that DELL has an uphill battle? Look around you John, the PC/server market is growing at <20%, so the qustion remains, how does DELL continue to grow at 50%?>" Gary, and this should be obvious, Dell can do so (and only do so) by taking market share.....I have posted to you articles which show the consolidation of the PC industry.....How the major players are grabbing (and will continue to grab) marketshare from all others.....Dell is clearly leading the pack....and they can continue to do so for many quarters....As Chuzz states, at some point, they will have to embark on other market segments to continue growing at 40%+....but that point is not near. Certainly not Q1, '99....as you have stated previously. <I think it might be best for us to end this conversation. >I left it a while back. Perhaps you should too.> You have obviously taken this personally Gary. I am sorry you are offended, but I dont think I have done anything to offend you. What I dont understand, though, is that when you first arrived on the thread, you actively criticized (all Dellheads) for not wanting to substantially discuss the issues, and now, you are are the one backing down from serious discussion.
