Dale.

"BTW, since you hooked me on histograms is there any way to formulize the moving averages above into a histogram? I experimented and came up with a formula:

Mov(C,8,E) - Mov(C,89,T) and the line style of histogram..

but can't find a way to do the horizontal shift..

Can this be accomplished? "

Try making the above invisible under styles and plotting a 1EMA of that indicator, shift as needed, style with histo bars and cook for 20 minutes.

enjoy with a red hook or such

No, place both in price windows. This simply gives you a short and intermediate MA to follow. The Cross over might be good but I haven't worked it that way. yes you can plot differences with a 0 trigger line and histogram setting. Off hand you can't shift in formulas I think someone came up with a way.

This is just a template, not a system. you can tailor a system to your needs. You might have a requirement of trend being up, look at Aroon or VHF.

As for stocks, try any that you trade or want to.

Dale,

Horizontal shifts in formulas, explorations, experts, etc. are accomplished using Ref(*,-x)
-x moves (refers) to the left creating rightshift & + to left.

Your histogram would be -

Ref(Mov(C,8,E),-7) - Ref(Mov(C,89,T),-8)

bdog always comes up with the "Houdini" method. <g>
Richard already spoke about their non-conjoined use.
