I think that the people who are calling for Clinton's resignation or impeachment should be prepared to tell the rest of us why they are better than he is morally. If we find them morally impure then they should have to publicly confess their sins

Ok. I'll go first. I have never lied under oath. I have never lied to a court or a judge. I have never asked others to lie for me. I am married and have been faithful to my wife. I have never asked anyone to lie under oath nor have I even hinted that someone should do so.

I think Clinton should resign though, for the sake of my political goals I would like for him to remain so that this issue could continue to weigh down the liberal agenda for the duration.

As to your basic reasoning, I was not aware that the president's moral behavior (as it relates to the actual sex acts themselves) is at issue. It is his legal behavior which is the crux of any argument calling for either his resignation or his impeachment.

>>I was talking with one woman who claims that Starr has the same swarmy (sic) smirk as the pedophiles that she has encountered in her job. He looks like the scout master who likes little boys too much.<<<

What? Take one to know one? Don't even bother to respond, you are obviously so debased in your thinking anything further you have to say will be relegated to the trash heap where it belongs.....

Jim - your sick, vile smear attempt at judge Starr is beneath even the most vigorous defenders of the indefensible.

Despite Starr's rationalizations to the contrary, he knew that the report that he delivered to congress would be made public and that it contained pornographic information designed to inflame public sentiment against Clinton.

See thats what I think. I dont know the formalities however. It seems to me that Starrs thinking was awfully compartmentalized at best, even if you say he had no control over the internet publication. Its kind of like being a VP in a company, it seems to me. You have complete control over your product, and indirect control over how others use the product, with regards to the features you put in there. I still hold Starr responsible, since he created the document. Whoever put the whole thing on the internet (if they read it) was also an idiot imo.

I don't know about morally better (a little too subjective) but I do know that unlike Bubba:

I have never committed perjury in a civil case.
I have never obstructed justice.
I have never lied under oath to a grand jury.
I have never abused the power of the Presidency.
I have never knowingly allowed false testimony to be submitted to
any tribunal.
I have never misled my friends so that they would lie for me.

Despite your cynical views, I'd be willing to bet that a very healthy percentage of the populace could make those same statements.

You are despicable. Comparing Starr to a pedophile is the worst kind of character assasination, totally unfounded and without any merit.

Grow up. The man perjured himself, violated his oath of office and disgraced the Presidency. Impeachment is necessary if he will not resign. JLA

Otherwise, they are hypocrites!<<

Were we Presidents of the United States, having taken the same vows as has Mr. Clinton, and having broken those vows as he has broken them, you would perhaps have a point. But as we are not all Presidents of the United States, and as we have not taken the same vows as has Mr. Clinton, and as we have not broken those vows, your point is without power. Nevertheless, I will indulge you.

I am married and with children, and my wife is reading this as I type it. I have no fear of it, because what I am about to say is the truth to the best of my ability to acknowledge it.

1. When I promised my wife my undying love and faithfulness, for better or worse-I meant it. I have already proven my devotion to my wife, a hundred times, and will continue to prove it until my death.
2. I have never lied to my wife.
3. I have never lied to my children.
4. I very rarely make promises, and those few I have made, I have kept faithfully.
5. I have never lied to the American courts.
6. In those unfortunate cases where I have lied, I have repented in the truest sense of the word, which is to cast myself at the mercy of those I have wronged, acknowledging their >right< to disdain me, and begging them not to enforce this right.
7. I have never insisted on lying about a lie, after having been caught in it.
8. My love for my wife is genuine, and when we hold hands in public, when I kiss her, there is no politics or facade to it. She is not merely my best friend, she is my soul.
9. I have never attempted to convince anyone that lying and adultery are not profoundly serious issues. Indeed, where I have had the opportunity, I have always spoken out against these things. (But unfortunately, our President seems to have won this battle.)
10. I have, in virtually all cases that come to mind, been scrupulous in telling the truth, sometimes to my great detriment.

For all these reasons and more, I am of better moral character than our President. Simply put, I am Holier than he.
