You might also add:

NRID
SACM
AFIS
Mytec (Canadian)

A number of these companies, including some on your list already, are micro-entities. The big two, based on revenues, are IDX and AFIS (Printrak). Most of their revenues come from FBI database related equipment, although IDX has other dimensions. DBII is also in the FBI-ID market. The others are software-oriented wannabes, most more adept at press releases than anything else. A few serious bio-ID possibilities, such as Identicator and I/O Software, are privately held.

More biometrics to add to your portfolio.

For a voice based biometric see T-Netix TNTX.

The company who recently announced they would supply finger print scanners to Compaq is called Key Tronic. They've made scanners that are stand alone, built into a mouse and built into a keyboard. Fits pretty nicely on a desktop. Wasn't very expensive. I believe a full function key board with a finger print scanner was about $140. I assume that includes software?

Now that you've started a portfolio, what is your conclusion of the group? Do they have any history of big momentum followed by disappointment? So many groups get a day in the spot light and then race off, followed by boredom and even disappointment as expectations aren't realized. Or, you can be early into a group that will get excitement and make a ton of money.

Where do you put this group in the cycle?

Regards,

Mark
