Ronnie: You might want to wait until after the analyst conference call tomorrow afternoon, when Boucher discusses Adaptec's map for the future and answers tough questions from a skeptical crew of analysts. Your opinion that nobody knows the answer concerning the longevity of Adaptec's product line is dead on. Investors wanting reassurance about product lines should invest in soap companies like P&G. Adaptec is a big gamble, like most high tech companies. There are a lot of sharp engineers out there designing products for competitors.

The current interim management of Adaptec seems to see enough long term profitability in the SCSI technology to retain it as its core product line. We don't know what, if any, new products are ready to emerge from Adaptec's design labs. Maybe it sees SCSI as its equivalent of Tide and all it needs to do is put "new" on the label.

Declining sales and declining profits have several causes. Other technology is one. Glut is another.

Good luck.
