I haven't heard anybody make a claim for supply side economics in a long time. I thought it was pretty much the consensus among economists that Reagan's supply-side drive failed, and that what really kicked the wind out of inflation and "malaise" was a good old-fashioned recession in the early eighties. I know that Laffer still thinks he was right, but I don't know of any other economist who agrees.
