He has shown excellent judgment in all other areas.

It was, after all, a rather remarkable set of events, and an unprecedented effort to get him for his rumored philandering, which lead to this uncontestable unveiling of his adultery.

I know you don't like it, but the fact is we have seen his performance in office, during the very time he was having his illicit affair. He has, in the judgment of the great majority of the public, performed very well. We have seen just how reliable he is, or is not, in using our military power. He has been tested. And found very good. By the great majority of the electorate.

I know this conundrum tears at the very fabric of a moralist's universe. But you just have to deal with it.

Try dealing with myriads of other historic examples as well. Kennedy had far more affairs in the White House. Martin Leuther King had multiple affairs at the very time he was delivering his famously stirring and history changing speeches. I could go on and on.

Maybe the sin of adultery, and efforts to cover it up, and not so central to character after all. Perish the thought!!!!!! Lord save me!!!!
