>The cover up is what got Nixon. It will also be Clinton's undoing.<

I think Doug's predictions are essentially correct. Clinton will weather this, and come out more powerful than before. Doug is wrong about a Republican backlash, however (well, if we count his reaction as the backlash, there is already a backlash, but an infinitesimal one). The Republicans will be for more careful with this scandal than they have previously. They are aware of Clinton's sheer mastery of deception, and are aware that the public very heavily supports Clinton. Thus, impeachment is out of the question, at least for now.

In the next few months a few interesting things will happen. Clinton's enemies, and not just Republicans, will attempt to gradually erode his image and thereby decrease his popularity, this, in the name of freedom of information. Clinton's population will decrease, but not significantly. Starr's other reports will arrive, and these will cause a few terrible bumps for the Administration. Clinton's popularity will erode further, but not by much. The public is already battle weary, and they will not engage their minds long enough to understand the legalities and ramifications of this situation.

Without some sort of simple and dramatic evidence, this thing can only wear on and on, eroding Clinton's stature, but only incrementally, and this will make life hellish for us all.

Clinton will continue his lies, as is typical sending his henchmen out to perpetuate them. The public will not buy his argument, and this will allow the Republicans to demand more than mere a censuring of the President. Likely Clinton will have to pay monetary damages in addition to censuring--- and the public will buy this nicely.

In Novemeber, the Republicans will definitely garner more seats in both the House and Senate. By no means will they get a filibuster proof Senate, however. Boxer will lose (people are sick of her feminazism), as will Braun (she is simply an idiot).

With the image of one who has paid his debt to society, Clinton will reemerge as a redeemed President. He will get a great deal of support, as the people will want this ex-convict to succeed. By this time, the country will have entered sever economic downturn, but the people will stand by the President. And he will finish his term.

His legacy will be that he rode the wave of a good economy that began in the last part of the Bush Presidency. He will not be remembered for implementing anything new and dramatic, perhaps save for his now nearly depleted initiative to bring women into his adminstration, and that by youth and charisma he was able to appeal to younger voters, energize for a time the democratic party and maintain the support of the people. But his Administration will be chiefly known as the Administration of Scandals because it was more scandal plagued than any President in American history. After his Presidency, and contrary to popular belief, the Clinton's will not divorce because Hillary will not want to do what everyone knows she wants to do. But without power, the Clintons will live lives even more vacuous than ever before. They will remain married but only technically.

In this order, from lesser to greater, Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and Monica Lewinsky, will haunt the Clintons for the rest of their natural lives.
