Chuzz,

Just a guess here, but the Russian rouble is dropping again today and the German (SAP) and Dutch (Baan) economies are more closely tied to the rouble than the US.

Theory for SAP's decline

SAP's year over year growth of 60+% was based on a weaker mark versus the dollar in the first half of 98 versus 97 (SAP's growth was computed using marks). Now everything is working in reverse. The mark is going up sharply and it weakened in the 2nd half of 97. Thus, the comparisons for the rest of the year will no longer be that positive even if SAP's business remains healthy. This is just my theory.

BTW,if SAP goes down sharply enough, PSFT will also go down in sympathy since it will be perceived that the ERP market is slowing. However, it is a distinct plus for PSFT if the mark (and other European currencies) strengthen relative to the dollar.

why SAP is 10% down? you asked.

Yeltsin said "Prepare for unrest!"
Greenspand didn't say"Cur rates immediately!"

That's how You shake a nervous market.
