Haven't they stated that they plan on releasing a new chip every six months?

Yes, they have. Guess what, it's been six months and no new retail product. It doesn't appear that we will see a new one at all this year. (That'll make it at least 10 months.) The last OEM product was a year ago. If they are reducing cycle times, we aren't getting our money's worth.

TNT was produced in about six months with half the R&D of 3dfx. Say what you will about their marketing/management, the technical team certainly can execute.

Not excatly, OEM part will be on a 6 month cycle, while high-end (gaming and professional) will be on an 18 month cycle. The two naturally share technology, and dev. efforts.
