Absolutely. Microsoft noticed that one of the best uses of Billy boy is as a salesman. IMHO Jobs is much better as a public speaker than Gates, so find a good, permanent CEO (easier said than done since Steve Ballmer is taken) name him president (just like they did to Ballmer at M$) and tour Jobs around...

OK Alomex, that just tears it!

Are you suggesting that Steve Ballmer would be a good CEO for Apple Computer???? Do you know anything about the man? I live about 10 miles from Microsoft and know many of their employees, past and present, and I can tell you in no uncertain terms that ol' Stevo Ballmer is the last person Apple would ever want as a CEO! Forget the fact he works for Microsoft, take that completely out of the equation. Truth is, the man knows next to nothing about the technology in the computer industry, and is spoken of quite harshly by MS engineers and many others who've had to deal with him. He's known for engaging in the same yelling matches with MS employees that Gates does, but has no technical knowledge to back up his tantrums or engage in any meaningful dialog with them. He simply throws his title around to get his way. At least Gates has the respect of his programmers because he knows and understands the technology involved. Steve Ballmer is the polar opposite of this.

Apple needs a CEO, like Steve Jobs, who really understands and contributes to the technological IQ quotient there. Sure, he can be a real jerk too, and involves himself in many of the same types of immature behavior that Gates and Ballmer do, but he also has the respect of his engineers.

In principle, I agree with your idea. But Steve Ballmer is not man for Apple, not by a longshot. Generally, I consider you fairly well versed in the technology and market dynamics of today's high tech industry (regardless of your mostly bearish comments concerning Apple), but you've gone way around the bend with the Ballmer idea.
