Steve Ballmer is the polar opposite of this. But Steve Ballmer is not man for Apple, not by a longshot. I won't argue with this for because: -I don't know much about Steve Ballmer -This forum is not about M$ -I was not seriously suggesting he be the CEO, since I don't think there is chance in hell that he will leave the largest corporation (in market cap) for Apple. Since Microsoft is so succesfull, I must presume Ballmer is doing something very well, but it could all be like you said, and Microsoft is where it in spite of Ballmer. More importantly, Ballmer came up not because I think he would be a good CEO for Apple, but because I think Apple should model it's "CEO as a salesman" somewhat in the steps of the Gates-Ballmer arrangement in Microsoft. Hope this clears things.

Keep in mind, not everyone out there is a techno-geek. Steve knows what people want, not "what's the best technology". Great technology does not drive sales. We've had fax modems available for ten years. Up until recently the fax machine (a poor example of communications technology) was the corporate workhorse. -Bill_H
