aps, Well the only position I have in enterprise software right now is a short. But, Im getting to the point where I think some of these could be bargains. Some other people *and you know who you are - rofl* feel that all the ERP weakness is y2k related, if that were so then things would get better mid- 1999 is my guess. But Im a little more skeptical I think there is also a kind of saturation in the mkt where the customer base is a little weary. I dont know, its hard to get your hands around that one I know. With regards to Psft and oracle apps, I disagree a little with you, I think Larry Ellison is a pretty great leader. The problem is, he doesnt like apps, he never has. He likes engine stuff and thats why the engine for oracle is looking good right now. Now this is just conjecture of course, but I think when Larry stopped the day to day activities inside Oracle a lot of innovation stopped. Anyway, good for Oracle that 8i is good - hopefully it can stall the Sql server threat. OK but with regards to apps, I dont know how Oracle is going to save that business. And I think many of those customers might become Psft customers, based on the Psft architecture and C/S model which is more open than Sap (not tech accurate but you know what I mean). If psft gains the Orcl mkt share it will be a formidible Sap competitor. So long term Psft looks good. I dont know what to think about a Sap slowdown and its effect on Psft, I would say Psft would have been negatively effected for sure but since Psft had that upbeat CC, who knows? Maybe the analysts will think Psft is taking a bite of Sap? I dont know, if I were Psft I would target the Orcl customer as I said. I work in ERP mfg actually, specifically SCM which is addressed with the Red Pepper acquisition by Psft or the companies I2 and Manugistics. Michelle
