ad buying--it's very localized. Business Week will run the same content in NYC and Edmonton, but each magazine will have different ads.

Not generally true for US magazines. There is this big trade row between the US and Canada forbidding sales of local ads. I don't know well the ins and outs of the current regulations, but to give you an example, the copy of Forbes I have next to me on my desk, which I bought in Canada, does not have a single Canadian oriented ad, and quite a few "useless" ads (such as mutual funds which are not available to Canadians).

Marc do you now anymore about this split-run thing?
