A few of my holdings are "awaiting" OEM announcements (including TDFX).

It's not just up to the suppliers when to announce agreements. Esp. for companies new to OEM there may be stipulations in the agreements as to announcement timing.

Why didn't they run an article when TDFX blew out earnings? Guess we'll never know...

I don't think TDFX was on his radar screen then. The guy who wrote this article was invited to write a piece on the short squeeze plan that I'd initiated. I think he just watched it to see how it is comming along and it coincided with the pre-announcement.
