this will definitely be a formidable competitor, IMHO. according to the press release, the unified messaging can be accessed by telephone as well as via computer. although this product does not appear to be as feature rich as portico, the press release promises improvements over time.

nonetheless, the market for this type of product will be enormous, and there will certainly be room for several successful players.

what do y'all think??

Netscape. Looks definitely competitive to me.

However, I view this as a very good thing!!

1) Firms have identified this as a truly big market. They
want a piece of it. In short, our market is validated.
2) The new entrants means that there will be a scramble for
others to get into the ballgame. Ok, you are someone like
BellSouth, or AT&T. You see other players moving while
you spend forever "trialing" a solution. Are you going
to dilly-dally and have Netscape eat your lunch, or are
you going to move? This news should move up the
carrier milestones!
3) GMGC is ahead of the game. They are deep technically,
in terms in of experience and in terms of partners.
Someone is going to want that, and want it bad.
Can you say "premium acquisition"? I thought you could.
