Jim, RE:<<How much would a share of Intel be worth today if you got it for say $1 in 1974 and got all those nice splits? Perhaps this will help John understand why you don't need to hedge?>>

What does Intel's performance over the last 18 years have to do with its performance over the coming years?

McMannis - Re: " How much would a share of Intel be worth today if you got it for say $1 in 1974 and got all those nice splits? "

Intel's stock did not sell for $1 in 1974.

In fact, it started out at around $78 in mid January and fell to about $15.50 in December of 1974 - this was a severe recession year, brought on by the Arab Oil Embargo, and political turmoil with Watergate and the resignation of Nixon.

The cost of a share of Intel purchased in 1974 can easily be calculated as the splits were recently posted - and are available on Intel's Web Site.

But the answer will be - Less than a Buck !
