Lee, I have not read the book, but did see an interview (on Book Notes?) with him. I was struck with his arrogance and (what I believe to be his) partisan disingenuousness: he said re: the current scandal - [paraphrased] "People aren't outraged about this moral breakdown the way their supposed to be". Frankly, I don't need him telling me what I'm "supposed to be" outraged about! I'm "outraged" that Starr's expensive snipe hunt couldn't find much in Whitewater, Ark., so it
went looking into private behavior in W, DC. I'm "outraged" that there's now another (constitutionally unintended) branch of government called "Independent Counsel" with absolutely no checks and balances, and as such is an utterly perfect and unstoppable political weapon. I'm "outraged" that alleged "evidence" is being released publicly with little or no regard to due process (even a pickpocket would get better treatment!), and the BS excuse promulgated by the sharks-smelling-blood is "The American people want to know". Actually, pols were taken and even conservative voters reject wholesale dissemination of evidence! "Outrage" is in the eye of the beholder, Mr. Bennet!
