Well it makes much more sense to have to defend an old patent. That's the way patents work, after all. It's going to take another company a while to get to the point where they're infringing on a patent.

And, again, there is much more competition now. I'd rather see a company take initiative and make it clear that they will defend all of their intellectual property than see them sit around and let some young turk of a company come in and steal their work. Doesn't this make sense?

Not defend Lucent? Why on Earth not? This stock's been making me money for two years now, and I don't see any sign of that stopping. But then you're not me, so it's a moot point.

I bet all those sector analysts out there really feel foolish for singing the praises of a company with a ~$100B market cap that's got nothing under the hood but "old world products." Boy, are they in for a surprise! What a hoot! Someone's going to have egg on his face!

Believe me, I know how difficult it is to see someone else enjoying himself when you're backing a stock like Ascend; I feel for you. Unfortunately, your dissatisfaction is not a valid reason to dump Lucent stock.

Have a great weekend. Maybe LU will buy MOT instead of Ascend, and you'll have no worries!
