Poet, You asked: I know I'm a bit of a latecomer here, ID, but what is the topic ? It seems as though Len has plenty to say (although much of it's hard to hear) but you keep directing the same question at him "Do you have anything else to say?"

The topic as far as I can tell has nothing to do with len's posts, except as potential case study material. However, I could see how you might conclude that len or I were the topic. Or as rrman, in post 132 so cleverly said: Am I missing something here... All this rhetoric sounds as if it came from a Monty Python flick Door# 10 if you want abuse...#9 if you want an argument, etc....

you keep directing the same question at him "Do you have anything else to say?"

Most everyone here has, IMHO, brought forth useful material related to the thread topic. Of course, I think you should read all of my posts. However, you can skip all of my posts that are marked OFF Topic "Do you have anything else to say?." They are clinical projective tools or facilitative utterances. They contain no information except as a place holder.

I purposefully have not yet made an explicit declarative statement regarding the subject topic. I've done so because of my interest in learning from others and desire to not artificially constrain the boundaries of the problem nor the creative imagination of others. I feel that the subject poem in its many potential interpretations captures or at least touches upon much of the essence of the topic.

I do share some direction in post #5:

Which way did you wish it to go? . . . Would it be acceptable to mention . . .

I said:
Take it where you believe the most good will be done.

However, My thought was to focus on the issues uniquely facing us as an SI community. Certainly the SI community is part of many larger communities and, as Bill Jackson shows so eloquently in his post, I do not think it wise to make an artificial separation between then. Use your interpretation of the subject header as your guide.

Additionally, I think it should be recognized that much of the positive energy to develop the thread topic came from issues surrounding the suspension of E Charters. It adds important layers of meaning. Message 5752572 .

You said: On a statistical note, the vagaries of our keyboards have rendered your writing of the null and alternative hypotheses as Ho and Ha, which may result in ridicule. How about" H sub o "and" H sub a"?

Poet, you got to be kidding. Well, maybe not? I think your suggestion is fine, although I may use my shorter one sometimes. I like the way it looks. Ho, Ha, Hum. Those who are going to ridicule, are going to find something no matter what.

I apologize for the delay in responding to your post. Also, please know that I'm going to be less available than usual the next couple of days. Again, really nice to have you back.

Regards, Infodart
