Y2K may even accelerate the Internet build-out in terms of demand for new boxes to replace all the servers, routers, bridges, hubs, switches, laser pumps, etc that will crap out due to embedded code in processors. How exactly will a bridge, hub, switch, laser pump, or even router fail come Y2K, even if they do decide it's 1900? "I'm sorry, I refuse to route packets, it's 1900 and the Internet hasn't even been invented yet." Seriously, most of these devices don't have big Y2K problems. Among other things, not a lot of COBOL code in routers.
